Adelaide United captain Eugene Galekovic has swiftly shifted focus to continental football after seeing his team’s unbeaten run end against Melbourne City on Friday night.
The Reds rarely threatened as City saw out a comfortable 1-0 victory at AAMI Park, leaving Adelaide with a first loss in six matches across all competitions.

While the defeat means they remain a real chance of finishing their title defence in last, the reigning Hyundai A-League champions can still make an impact in the AFC Champions League if they secure a result away to Jeju United on Tuesday night.
“We win and we’re still involved. That’s our aim,” Galekovic told Fox Sports.
“We’ve got a full squad so there’s a lot to choose from even if there are tired boys out there.
“We’ll give it a good crack.”
Adelaide will need to find more attacking verve if they’re to trouble the Korean side in midweek, with Galekovic conceding they caused little concern for City.
“I think in the first half we didn’t really create too much. We attacked second half and we knew they would tire,” the veteran goalkeeper said.
“They’ve copped a lot of goals in the last 20 or 30 minutes of games so we knew we were in it.
“We really didn’t create but we were trying.”
