Adelaide United are sweating on the fitness of stars Travis Dodd and Matthew Leckie for Friday night’s A-League blockbuster against the Melbourne Victory at Etihad Stadium.
Dodd is struggling with an Achilles injury he sustained in Friday night’s comfortable 3-0 win over the Wellington Phoenix.
The Reds skipper, who battled a similar problem throughout last season, had scans on his ankle on Monday which revealed a slight strain of his Achilles.
Leckie missed the Phoenix clash with a knee strain and it’s understood coach Rini Coolen is leaning towards giving the 19-year-old another week off to get the injury right.
The pair’s progress will be monitored throughout the week with a decision on their availability to be made after the squad’s final training session on Thursday.
The absence of both Dodd and Leckie would be a major blow for the league-leading Reds, who have lost their last nine matches against the Victory.
