ISUZU UTE A-LEAGUE: TEAM NEWS

Western Sydney Wanderers captain Marcelo has learned his fate after Football Australia’s independent Disciplinary & Ethics Committee convened on Wednesday, April 12 to consider the centre-back’s Round 22 send-off against Adelaide United.

The committee handed Marcelo a two-game ban, and a suspended sanction of a further two A-League Men matches or Australia Cup matches. This additional two-game ban will be triggered if Marcelo is issued with either a direct or indirect card in any A-League Men or Australia Cup game up until, and including, December 31, 2023.

It means Marcelo is suspended for one more A-League Men fixture: the Wanderers’ home clash against Melbourne Victory this weekend.

Around the league, Adelaide United midfielder Isaias returns from injury for his side’s home clash with Western United – but the visitors are bolstered by the addition of James Troisi (injury) and Aleksandar Prijovic (illness) back into the fold.

Melbourne City’s Scott Jamieson returns from suspension for his side’s top-four clash with Central Coast, whilst both Newcastle and Macarthur regain their respective number nines for their Friday night clash at McDonald Jones Stadium, with Beka Mikeltadze returning for the Jets and Bachana Arabuli in the mix for the Bulls.
