A-Leagues fixtures postponed due to severe weather

Three A-Leagues fixtures have been postponed due to extreme weather in New South Wales and Queensland.

The postponements effect Brisbane Roar and Canberra United’s meeting in the Liberty A-League scheduled for Monday, February 28 and the double-header between Western Sydney and Wellington Phoenix at CommBank Stadium on Sunday, February 27.

In a statement the A-Leagues said: “Due to the rising Parramatta River and increased level of the surrounding water table, CommBank Stadium’s surface has been unable to drain and is therefore unfit for play.

“The A-Leagues will continue to work closely with venue management to monitor the surface for the next 48 hours with the aim of rescheduling the games to later this week.

“We thank our venue partners for their ongoing support and assistance while we continue to deal with the extreme wet weather conditions. The A-Leagues is coordinating with clubs to reschedule all postponed matches.”
