Monday’s Isuzu UTE A-League fixture between Melbourne Victory and Brisbane Roar at AAMI Park will not go ahead due to the extreme weather and flooding in Queensland.
The severe weather in south-east Queensland means the Roar are unable to safely travel to Victoria, the A-Leagues announced on Sunday.
Victory and Roar were scheduled to meet in Melbourne after Friday’s initial fixture in Queensland was postponed because of the situation in the state.
“Due to the significant flooding in numerous areas around Brisbane and south-east Queensland, a large number of the Brisbane Roar staff and playing group are extremely limited in their movements and it has been deemed unsafe for them to leave their homes,” the A-Leagues statement read.
“As a result, with the safety of all players and their families the top priority, the decision has been made to postpone the match and limit their travel until it is deemed safe to resume daily activities under the guidance of the Queensland Government and Weather officials.
“We thank our venue partners for their ongoing support and assistance while we continue to deal with the extreme wet weather conditions.
“The A-Leagues is coordinating with clubs to reschedule the match shortly.”
