In their short existence, Melbourne Heart have already a proven youth policy and a brilliant record of developing talent.
The likes of Brendan Hamill, Eli Babalj and Curtis Good have already departed the red and white, but Heart boss John Aloisi can still boast some of the best young talent in the country in Michael Marrone or Aziz Behich.
And as the club-s former youth team coach, it seems Heart could remain one of the best development clubs in the competition.
Golgol Mebrahtu: Pacy and capable of cutting defences to shreds, Mebrahtu showed his potential with Gold Coast United and working with Aloisi should improve his finishing.
John Aloisi says: “He is one of those players that showed a lot of ability at the Gold Coast, very good at one-on-ones, quick and now we just have to work on his end product and I-m sure he will make a big impact for us.”
Aziz Behich: The 21-year-old set tongues wagging last year, not only for his combative nature on the pitch but also for his dashing runs down the left side of the field. A defender with real attacking capabilities he has a big future and his role at the Heart looks set to increase.
Aloisi says: “Let-s hope Aziz keeps on improving as a player, from the first season at Melbourne Heart he improved from that last season and if he can take another step, I-m sure that sooner rather than later he will be in the national team.”
David Vrankovic: A promising Young Socceroos defender signed from Sydney FC during the off-season, Vrankovic represents Heart-s next level of development.
Aloisi says “It-s his first season in the professional setup, so we-re expecting that he improves on his technical and physical side of the game and sees the way we play tactically and adapts to that.”
