Central Coast Mariners have announced the signing of young forward Shadeene Evans ahead of their return to the Liberty A-League next season.
Evans joins the club after a season at Liberty A-League Championship and Premiership winners Sydney FC, making only the solitary appearance for Ante Juric’s side.
She previously spent time at Adelaide United as well as another stint with the Sky Blues between 2018-20.
Evans joined the Football NSW Institute and Westfield Sports High as a 14-year-old on the recommendation of former Matildas boss Alen Stajcic, before making her Liberty A-League debut with Sydney in 2018.

The 22-year-old played under Mariners assistant coach Jake Stephenson at Northern Tigers for a number of seasons in NPLW New South Wales and has been part of Under-17 and Under-20 Australia squads in the past.
“I am super excited to be a Mariner this season. With the Central Coast returning into the A-League Women’s competition, it is a great chance to come into a new team and help to create a legacy with the club,” Evans said.
“I know a lot of the girls in the team which is nice as well. I’m excited to be able to work with Emily, play in front of the Mariners fans and get started this season.”
Mariners coach Emily Husband added: “Shay has already had a few seasons’ experience in the A-League competition, so I am super excited to have her with the Mariners this campaign. She brings great energy and demands that her teammates are always putting everything they have into anything.
“She is still very young and has good ability off both feet, so she will be a really good addition and forward for us this season.”
Evans is the club’s 12th signing ahead of their return to the competition, as Husband co continue to mould the Mariners squad before their opening game against Newcastle Jets on October 14.
