Brisbane Roar have confirmed Chelsea Blissett will miss the remainder of the Liberty A-League season after scans confirmed she suffered an ACL injury on Sunday.

Blissett was helped off the field after injuring her knee in the second-half of their 1-0 loss to Western United at Ballymore Stadium.

The 23-year-old had played in each of the Roar’s opening five matches after making the move from Melbourne City this off-season, scoring once in their 1-0 win over Sydney FC in Round 2.

It’s the second season-ending injury a Roar player has sustained in a matter of weeks, after 17-year-old Grace Kuilamu suffered a similar injury in the lead up to their Round 3 clash with Wellington Phoenix at training.

Blissett’s former City teammate Holly McNamara also ruptured her ACL this Sunday, with the club confirming the news on Tuesday.

Brisbane return to action this Sunday, when they face Adelaide United at Suncorp Stadium.
