Central Coast Mariners head coach Emily Husband has joined an exclusive club after winning the Ninja A-League Championship.
Husband guided the Mariners to a 5-4 penalty shoot-out win over Melbourne Victory in Sunday’s Grand Final, which ended 1-1 after extra time.
It delivered the Mariners their first Championship in just their second season since returning to the competition following a 14-year hiatus.
For Husband, she becomes the fourth female coach to hoist the trophy aloft, following in the footsteps of Jitka Klimkova (2012, Canberra United), Liesbeth Migchelsen (2014, Canberra United) and Jessica Fishlock (2016-17, Melbourne City – player/coach).
On Sunday, the Englishwoman also became the first female to coach in a Ninja A-League decider since Fishlock in 2017.
