Perth Glory have signed Sydney FC striker Patrick Wood on loan for the remainder of the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
Glory have continued their busy January transfer window with the temporary arrival of the 22-year-old after Lachie Wales, Yuto Misao and Takuya Okamoto were announced as soon as the window opened on Thursday.
Wood will have the chance to play more regular football in Perth, where the Australia Under-23 international will reunite with former Sydney assistant coach and Glory boss David Zdrilic while he is seen as an “ideal strike partner” for club captain and Socceroo Adam Taggart.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity to join Perth Glory for the remainder of the season,” he said.
“I believe I can make a valuable contribution to the team, bring goals and lots of energy and help push the team up the competition table.
“I’m looking forward to playing up front alongside Taggs [Adam Taggart] and working once again with Zdrila [Head Coach David Zdrilic] who I worked closely with at Sydney FC.
“This opportunity presents a new challenge for myself and it’s one I’m willing to take with both hands.
“I’m excited to see all the Glory fans at HBF Park soon!”

“I worked closely with Pat during my time at Sydney FC,” Zdrilic said. “So I’ve seen first-hand what he’s capable of and how much scope there is to further develop and improve him as a player.
“He’s quick and mobile, plays off the shoulder of defenders, always puts in a big shift and can finish.
“I’m sure that his dynamic, all-action style and willingness to give his all for the team will resonate strongly with our Members and fans and his arrival will definitely boost our effectiveness in the final third as we look to kick on in the second half of the season.”

Glory’s football director Stan Lazaridis added: “Pat is a livewire forward who has the pace to get in behind and a willingness to also work very hard out of possession.
“He’s extremely motivated to become a regular A-League starter and we believe that he will provide an ideal strike partner for Adam Taggart.
“This move represents a new challenge for Pat who has spent the whole of his senior career to date with Sydney FC and we’re really looking forward to seeing him fulfil the enormous potential that he undoubtedly has between now and the end of the season.”
