Victory sign Young Socceroo with ‘enormous quality’ on loan from A-Leagues rivals

Melbourne Victory have signed Alex Badolato on loan from Western Sydney Wanderers for the remainder of the 2024-25 Isuzu UTE A-League season.

The 19-year-old will join Victory at the conclusion of the Subway Young Socceroos’ AFC Under-20 Asian Cup campaign in China, where he started in Australia’s opening 5-1 rout of Kyrgyz Republic on Wednesday.

Badolato featured twice as a substitute for A-Leagues rivals the Wanderers this season, and has made 20 league appearances since his Western Sydney debut in 2021-22. He also scored during the club’s 2024 Australia Cup campaign.

“We’re very pleased to welcome a player of Alex’s pedigree to the club,” said head coach Arthur Diles.

“Alex has enormous quality and he will add further talent and depth to our midfield and attacking third.

“We are focused on silverware this season and have no doubt that adding players like Alex, and Lachlan (Jackson) during this window, will help get us one step closer to our goals.”
