The Newcastle Jets will be determined to put their off-season turmoil behind them – and what better way to start fresh than with a New Year’s Eve trip to face their bitter rivals, the Central Coast Mariners.
Star striker Roy O’Donovan will go head-to-head with his former club to close the curtain on a turbulent 2020, after ex-Jets head coach Carl Robinson ended his short stint in the Hunter with a shock switch to Western Sydney Wanderers back in October.
And tensions are sure to be high when the Red and Black travel to McDonald Jones Stadium, with Robinson making his return in Round 3. The Jets have the chance to start 2021 with a bang by getting one over their F3 rivals and their former coach in the opening week of the new campaign.
