A-League Save of Matchweek 9 – Max Crocombe

Save of Matchweek 9 honours go to Melbourne Victory’s Max Crocombe, for his quick-fire double save in Melbourne Victory’s encounter with Newcastle Jets at AAMI Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Victory gloveman pulled off a pair of excellent stops in the 67th minute of his side’s clash with the Jets. Victory were to concede the decisive goal to Angus Thurgate just minutes later, but Crocombe’s efforts were herculean in the context of the moment at hand with the scores locked at 0-0.

Crocombe denied both Roy O’Donovan and Valentino Yuel in the space of seconds, first diving quickly to his right to repel a well-executed O’Donovan header before getting quickly to his feet as Yuel pounced on the loose ball.

The Jets forward struck on target but Crocombe saved once more with his left leg, helping the ball away from goal and out for a corner instead.
