A-League Save of Matchweek 13: Oliver Sail, selected by Mark Bosnich

Former Socceroos and English Premier League goalkeeper Mark Bosnich has awarded Wellington Phoenix stopper Oliver Sail Save of Matchweek 13 honours for denying Melbourne Victory’s Elvis Kamsoba’s long-range strike on Tuesday night.

Sail ensured his side kept a 2-0 lead going into half-time with a pair of excellent saves in the opening 45 to deny Kamsoba and Ben Folami.

Bosnich has elected to award Sail Save of the Week for his low diving save to keep Kamsoba’s bullet from outside the box from sneaking past his left-hand upright.

“Some of the hardest saves for goalkeepers in football are in the top corners, obviously, and also in the bottom corners,” Bosnich said.

“It was down to his right, bottom corner… you have to dive basically that far off the ground and the hand has to get to the ball first.”
