The 51-year-old, who guided the Wanderers to the 2024-25 Elimination Final in his first season, reportedly now has full control of all football decisions at the club.

Asked about those reports following the Round 1 draw with City, Stajcic told reporters: “It’s not necessarily a new role.

“We’re just overseeing football and being a lot more united throughout the whole club- the women’s team, the men’s team, the academies.

“Really grateful to our ownership who have allowed us to have more funds to employ some more full-time coaches and really become, not only a fee-free academy but have full-time coaches within our academy now for the first time ever throughout the whole academy.

“So we’re really looking to have the most professional setup we can have within Australia.

“We want that to go all the way through from U13s through to our academy teams, our performance teams in the NPL and then obviously to our A-League men’s and women’s teams as well.

“We want to be a well-rounded club. We tick a lot of boxes but now putting full-time coaches, again with the support of our board and owners is just a fantastic initiative.

“We are putting that together and making sure we have an aligned and united front.”
