開幕戦がライバルチーム、メルボルン・シティとの一戦という好カード。マーベル・スタジアムは観客で埋め尽くされるだろう。多くのファンが期待を寄せるこの大一番に本田はスタメンとして出場する。 日本から来たレジェンドにとって、待ちきれない瞬間だろう。ここに至るまでのプレシーズンは、百戦錬磨の本田にとっても最長のものだった。 READ: Honda primed for Hyundai A-League debut in Melbourne Derby WATCH：本田啓介の現代Aリーグデビュー ACミラン、CSKAモスクワ、パチューカなど過去に在籍したどのチームでも、これほど長いプレシーズンは経験しなかったはずだ。 開幕戦がダービーマッチであることに驚く一方、自身のAリーグデビューを大舞台で飾れることを本田は喜んでいる。 「ダービーマッチは何度も経験しているし、その重さもよく理解している」木曜日の会見で本田はこう語った。 「開幕戦がダービーマッチというのは珍しいが、興行上の理由だと思う。いずれにせよ、スタジアムは満員になるはずだ」 「非常に難しく、また慎重さが必要なゲームになるだろう。経験がある選手でも緊張するものだ。だからメンタル面の準備が大切だと思う」 「この2、3ヶ月はしっかり準備してきた・・・そしてついに、メルボルン・シティとの一戦を土曜日に迎える。今はとてもワクワクしている」 ライバル、メルボルン・シティへの思い これまで多くのダービーマッチを経験した本田だが、土曜日の一戦については未知の点が多少はあるようだ。 ウォレン・ジョイス監督率いるシティについて知っていることは？という問いに対し、本田はこう答えた「ティム（ケーヒル）がいたチームだよね？」 「実はあまり良く知らない。（でも）うちのチームは彼らの戦術を分析しているし、土曜日に彼らがどう仕掛けてくるかについては（ビクトリーの監督）ケヴィンからたくさん聞いている」 「だから、彼らの戦術に関しては良く分かっている。心配はいらない。戦う準備はできている」 新戦力とのコンビネーション 新戦力は本田だけではない。ビクトリーはこのプレシーズン、スウェーデン代表のオラ・トイヴォネンを獲得したと発表した。 ビクトリーファンは新戦力コンビの活躍に大きな期待を寄せている。チャンピオンシップ連覇という目標がより現実に近づくからだ。 本田は、トイヴォネンの加入はチームに大きなプラスだとしながら、それには時間がかかるかもしれない、という見方を示す。 「彼は明らかに、このチームで最高のプレイヤーの一人だ。（だが）現在のコンディションについては少し気になる点がある」 「フィジカル面の調子を上げるには少し時間が必要だろう」 「いずれにせよ、心配はいらない。今シーズンの彼の活躍に多くの人が驚くことになるだろう」
