Roy O’Donovan has returned to Newcastle Jets on an 18-month deal after securing a deadline day move from Brisbane Roar. The Irish striker will join the Jets immediately after mutually agreeing to part ways with the Roar, where he has recently found himself out of favour with head coach Robbie Fowler. The 34-year-old departs the Roar with six goals to his name from 12 appearances in the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season, including a hat-trick against Melbourne City in November. He will now link with the Jets where he made 25 Hyundai A-League appearances over two seasons – netting 20 goals and featuring heavily in the Hunter club’s run to the 2018 Hyundai A-League Grand Final.
