City made the announcement on Wednesday as the three-time reigning premiers prepare for Sunday’s blockbuster Elimination Final against rivals Melbourne Victory,

Good is City’s all-time games record holder, having so far amassed 179 appearances across two spells with the club after debuting in 2011-12 before re-joining the team in 2018.

In recognition of his contribution to the club, the Melbourne City ‘Clubman of the Year’ award will be renamed the ‘Curtis Good Award’ in the 31-year-old’s honour.

Good’s impending departure comes on the back of confirmation captain and the Isuzu UTE A-League’s all-time leading goalscorer Jamie Maclaren will also leave at the conclusion of 2023-24.

“As a Melbourne boy, it’s been a privilege to represent this club for as long as I have,” said two-time Socceroo Good.

“From giving me the confidence as young player to make the leap to Europe, and all the success we’ve shared since returning to Australia, the club has played a massive role in shaping me both on and off the pitch.

“My teammates, the staff and our fans have had a lasting impact on me. I love this club, and to have an award named after me is a huge honour. My family and I will always call the club
home.”

Since returning to City six years ago, Good has enjoyed great success in Melbourne.

The former Newcastle United defender has won a Championship and three Premiers Plates while he was named City’s Player of the Year during their double-winning campaign in 2020-21.

This season, Good has played 20 A-Leagues matches, scoring once for Aurelio Vidmar’s side, who finished the regular campaign sixth.

“Curtis has had to overcome a serious injury which significantly affected his earlier career and has gone on to become if not the best, one of the best, defenders the A-League has seen,” said City’s director of football Michael Petrillo.

“He’s played an integral part in our Men’s team success during their history-making run, with his persistence, consistency, defensive intelligence and strength in the contest really standing out.

“As a home-grown boy who started his career with us, he’s always been universally loved by our fans and equally respected by his peers.

“He leaves as a club legend and will always have a home at Melbourne City.”
