Melbourne City head coach Aurelio Vidmar lauded new right-hand man Scott Jamieson as he endorsed the club legend for a long-term future in coaching.
Jamieson has been promoted to assistant coach following Raffaele Napoli’s recent departure to Japan, where he is Arthur Papas’ assistant at J1 League side Cerezo Osaka.

Napoli’s exit in December opened the door for A-Leagues great Jamieson to make the step up, having been part of City’s coaching staff since retiring at the end of 2022-23 with one Championship and three Premierships across 322 league appearances – the eighth most in history.
Vidmar was asked the former City captain and four-time Socceroos full-back following Friday night’s 1-0 loss to Adelaide United.

“Jamo’s really growing in his role,” Vidmar told reporters.
“Obviously after our assistant coach moved to Japan 4-5 weeks ago, Jamo is taking up more senior assistant’s position and going a great job. He really loves it.
“He has the beauty of having the computer in front of him to see a lot of the tactical stuff that is sometimes difficult to see, and he is passing on that information to the players.
“He is doing a great job and absolutely relishing his new responsibilities.
“I think in the long term he is going to be a very, very good coach.”
