What is next for Marin Jakolis after a standout season for Macarthur Bulls? His Isuzu UTE A-League future was a topic of conversation on this week’s episode of Total A-Leagues.
Jakolis has starred in 2024-25 despite Macarthur missing out on the Finals Series as all eyes turn to the 28-year-old’s future, with his contract set to expire.
The Bulls star has tallied a league-high 12 assists heading into the final round, while he has also added nine goals for a Macarthur side who claimed the 2024 Australia Cup.

“Marin Jakolis 12 assists this season, which is the most in a season since Leroy George’s 14, one of the great one-season wonders for Melbourne Victory (with) 14 assists in 2017-18,” Total A-Leagues host and Sydney Morning Herald reporter Vince Rugari said.
“He’s also off contract as well, which is interesting. The Bulls would want to sign him up, I would have thought.”
Retired Socceroo and former A-Leagues star Tommy Oar added: “Maybe he wants to go back overseas. Who knows?
“He’s one that’s kind of slid under the radar a little bit this season, probably because the Bulls, they’ve kind of slid down the table when they lost a lot of their other players.

Rugari continued: “The other thing I think that made him fall off the radar is when we found out that he wasn’t eligible to play for the Socceroos. A bit excited in the early part of the season and so was he actually, I feel like his form dropped off not long after that sort of came out.”
With Jakolis set to become a free agent, he could emerge as a target for rival A-Leagues clubs, including Western Sydney Wanderers, according to Oar.
The Wanderers could be on the lookout for attacking reinforcements amid reports star Nicolas Milanovic is poised to join Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.

“We’ve seen him (Jakolis) back in the goals and in this game last weekend against Melbourne Victory, he could have scored. He was unlucky enough to get on the score sheet again.
“But I think a lot of teams in the A-League would be looking at him, potentially even the Wanderers if Milanovic does leave.”
