A-League Goal of Matchweek 7 – Scott McDonald

The competition was fierce, but Scott McDonald’s pure strike to find the top-left corner for Brisbane Roar against Melbourne Victory edged out a handful of stunners to claim Goal of Matchweek 7.

Graham Dorrans, Besart Berisha, Jake Brimmer and Matt Derbyshire all put their names in contention for the honour as the eight-game Matchweek played out, but as Brisbane ran rampant against the Victory on Saturday afternoon McDonald netted the pick of the bunch with a peach of a hit which sent the Roar flying at Dolphin Stadium.

The ex-Socceroo found the back of the net twice as Brisbane hammered four past Victory in the first half. It was his first strike of the afternoon which earned Goal of the Matchweek honours after Dylan Ryan’s meek headed clearance fell into his path on the tip of the box.

McDonald struck a first-time shot off the outside of his right foot, swerving the ball from left to right as it bent past Max Crocombe in goal and nestled into the top corner.
