Reno Piscopo’s top-corner thunderbolt struck in Wellington Phoenix’s 3-0 win over Western United at Sky Stadium has been named Goal of the Week for Matchweek 22.
Wellington returned to New Zealand for their first game on home soil in more than a year on Saturday, May 22 – and the home fans were treated to a magnificent Phoenix performance.
Piscopo was at the heart of all of Wellington’s attacking play, icing an excellent individual performance with a goal to savour in the second half.
The attacking midfielder lashed a right-footed strike past United ‘keeper Ryan Scott to make it 2-0, getting the fans in the stands at Sky Stadium onto their feet whilst sending his team on the way to victory.
Piscopo gathered the ball and drove into the 18-yard box, sizing up the target before angling his shot toward the top-left corner. Scott got a glove on the ball but could only send the ball further into the top corner.
