Melbourne City forward Andrew Nabbout scored the Goal of Matchweek 17 in his side’s memorable 7-0 win over Melbourne Victory on Saturday night.
City’s Melbourne Derby delight was kick-started by Andrew Nabbout’s wonder goal to open the scoring in the 11th-minute of play.
Nabbout is no stranger to scoring audaciously with the outside of his right boot – he displayed that by securing Goal of the Season honours when playing for Newcastle Jets in the 2017/18 season by scoring in similar style.
Fast-forward to 2020/21, and a contest with Victory presented the now-City star with the opportunity to put that particular skill on show once more, beating goalkeeper Matt Acton with a shot bent off his right boot on the left wing into the opposite top corner of goal.
Nabbout received the ball from Connor Metcalfe out wide, and sized up his defender – Victory full-back Storm Roux. He drove toward the byline, as Roux offered the space to play the ball into the box from a tight angle.
Nabbout told FOX Sports when interviewed at half-time that what came next was intentional – the ball travelled off his foot toward goal, looping Acton to crash off the right-hand goalpost and drop over the line.
