The Hyundai A-League is making its mark in Tasmania, with football fever gripping Launceston ahead of Wednesday night-s clash between Melbourne Victory and Gold Coast united and Aurora Stadium.
The arrival of Victory marquee man Harry Kewell has helped the game gain traction in the area, with a skills workshop being held by both Victory and United giving local youngsters the chance to learn from the best, part of a number of events being held in the build-up to the game.
“Excitement is definitely building,” Football Federation Tasmania (FFT) CEO John Boulous said.
“Last night -despite the weather – more than 70 talented young footballers turned up for a free FFT junior clinic with Victory and Gold Coast stars.
“Both Victory and Gold Coast have training sessions, which the public can come along to. It-s a good chance to fill your autograph book ahead of tomorrow night-s game.”
The pitch at Aurora Stadium has also been to rectangular mode against the stands, allowing fans to get even closer to the action.
Melbourne Victory v Gold Coast United at Aurora Stadium kicks off at 7.30pm local time (7pm AEDT). Watch the game on Fox Sports 1 or follow it on our live match centre.
