There appears to be a good mix of youthful exuberance and experience throughout the Sydney FC squad and if pre-season form and results are anything to go by, the sky is the limit for the Sky Blues.
Sydney FC:
Team overview/chances for season ahead:
There is a real sense of optimism around the Sky Blues this season. The appointment of successful Hyundai A-League coach Graham Arnold is a huge plus while the additions of Mark Janko, Alex Brosque, Bernie Ibini and Shane Smeltz gives the club a forward line to fear.

Star Man:
Alex Brosque ($306,000)
One of the Sky Blues favourite sons, Brosque returns to the club this season as part of a new-look lethal strikeforce. Still possessing blinding pace and an eye for a killer pass, Brosque – who is the club’s greatest-ever goal-scorer with 36 – will be a key component of Arnold’s plans.
Bargain Buy:
Alex Gersbach ($91,000)
The talented 17-year-old is currently the club’s only recognized left-back which means he should start most games this season. He will be part of a Sydney defence which should be a lot more organized and resolute in 2014/15 which could translate to more clean sheets while Gersbach also takes a few set pieces, which should lead to a few assists.
Likely starting XI: (4-2-3-1) – Vedran Janjetovic (GK), Pedj Bojic, Sasa Ognenovski, Nikola Petkovic, Alex Gersbach, Terry Antonis, Ali Abbas, Bernie Ibini, Corey Gamiero, Alex Brosque, Mark Janko
