While the Mariners may not have bolstered their squad as well as most other Hyundai A-League clubs, we should know by now never to write off this club.
A positive for coach Phil Moss has managed to keep the core of the side together and they should again prove hard to beat.
The main question hangs over whether they can get the best out of recruits like Malick Mane and Richard Vernes and whether the likes of Mitchell Duke, Nick Fitzgerald and Isaka Cernak can start consistently living up to their undoubted talent.

The key to putting together a good fantasy side is finding a defender whose side won’t concede a lot of goals but who also has the knack of getting on the scoresheet at the other end as well.
The Mariners are among the best organized and structured sides in the competition while Bosnar’s size and leap means he can get on the end of set-pieces. Not to mention his rocket of a left-foot from free-kicks anywhere within range of the oppositions goal.

Anthony Kalik ($91,000)
The youngster might not be known to A-League fans just yet but Moss has huge wraps on him and he could get plenty of game time in that No.10 role. At less than $100,000, Kalik offers some good value, especially if he can translate his pre-season from into competitive action.
