A-League fans have voted Central Coast Mariners keeper Mat Ryan the best in the league, by a large margin.
On the back of his stellar form throughout the season Hyundai A-League fans have swarmed to vote Central Coast Mariners keeper the very best shot-stopper in the competition.
In a poll conducted across the Football Federation Australia network, asking who fans thought was the best keeper the competition had to offer, Ryan received a huge 22 per cent of the total votes, easily besting his nearest rival, Adelaide United captain Eugene Galekovic (15 per cent of the votes) and Wellington Phoenix-s World Cup hero Mark Paston, who despite not playing for most of the season received 13 per cent of the vote.
Ryan who has been linked with talks of an overseas move sooner rather than later has had it suggested to him by Mariners coach Graham Arnold that he should get more experience in Australia before heading overseas to test himself.
While the news was a vindication of Ryan-s form, the poll also showed A-League fans don-t seem to think much of his nearest rival, with Newcastle-s Ben Kennedy received the fewest votes in the poll, recording just three per cent of fan votes.
