3 key ins for the Hyundai A-League this weekend

Adelaide United could hand a debut to their new Slovenian striker while a key attacking weapon is back on deck for Western Sydney Wanderers this weekend.

The final three games of the split Round 20 kicks off on Friday night with the resurgent Western Sydney Wanderers playing host to the high-flying Newcastle Jets.

We’ve picked out three stars who are back in action this week and will be looking to help their side claim maximum points as the race to the Finals Series heats up.

Daniel Georgievski (Newcastle Jets)

The experienced defender is likely to come straight back into the starting XI after missing the win over Melbourne Victory due to suspension.

And his return is timely with young left-back Ivan Vujica unavailable due to illness.

Georgievski has been a consistent performer for Ernie Merrick’s side and he’s going to need to be at the top of his game as he goes head-to-head with Wanderers star Chris Ikonomidis.

Dzengis Cavusevic (Adelaide United)

All eyes will be on the new Reds striker, who is set to make his debut after signing with the club last week.

The Slovenian, who previously played for FC Zurich in the Swiss Super League, is a big physical presence and will be looking to make an immediate impact against Central Coast Mariners.

Marco Kurz’s side have been longing for a consistent goal-scorer all season – will the 30-year-old be the answer?

Alvaro Cejudo (Western Sydney Wanderers)

In a huge boost to the Wanderers, Spanish playmaker Cejudo is set to return for the massive clash against the Jets.

One of Western Sydney’s best players early in the season, Cejudo hasn’t featured since injuring his calf on New Year’s Day.

But his return will add some more creativity and spark to the Wanderers attack and it will be interesting to see how he combines with Argentine playmaker Marcelo Carrusca.
