Celtic are reportedly closing in on a move to sign Socceroo Marco Tilio from Isuzu UTE A-League premiers Melbourne City.
According to Sky Sports, Scottish champions Celtic have agreed a deal to bring the Australia international to Glasgow.
The report claims paperwork is being finalised and Celtic – who are now led by Brendan Rodgers following Ange Postecoglou’s big move to Premier League giants Tottenham – hope to complete the transfer this week.
A move to Celtic Park would see Tilio link up with countrymen in the form of Socceroos midfielder Aaron Mooy and Australian legend Harry Kewell, who remains on the coaching staff despite Postecoglou’s England switch.
After two goals in his first season with City and five the following campaign, Tilio took his game to a new level with 10 goals in 2022-23, to go with five assists as the premiers reached the Grand Final before losing to Central Coast Mariners.
The 21-year-old, who won three consecutive Premierships with City, was also in the Socceroos’ 2022 FIFA Men’s World Cup squad.
