Glover in talks over his next club and it could see him join a Socceroo
Middlesbrough are reportedly in talks to sign former Melbourne City goalkeeper Thomas Glover as a free agent.
According to TEAMtalk in the UK, EFL Championship outfit Boro have held talks over a move for the Australian goalkeeper, who was called into the squad for last month’s international friendly against Lionel Messi’s Argentina in Beijing, China.

A move to Riverside would see Glover join forces with Socceroos midfielder and A-Leagues graduate Riley McGree, who helped Michael Carrick’s Boro reach the semi-finals of the Championship play-offs last season.
Central Coast Mariners star Sam Silvera has also been tipped to sign for Boro.
The 25-year-old arrived at City from Tottenham in 2019 and made 109 appearances for the club, including being part of each of their three Premiership-winning sides between 2021-2023.
Glover missed only three matches during this time and started in all four of their Grand Final appearances between 2020-2023 – including their victory in the 2021 decider over Sydney FC and he was a standout on an otherwise forgettable night in the team’s 6-1 humbling at the hands of Central Coast Mariners last month.
He left as the club’s fifth most-capped player in history.
Goodwin makes more history in South Australia
Craig Goodwin is the Johnny Warren Medallist and the face of Adelaide United, but he is also the first inductee into his high school’s wall of fame.
The Adelaide captain capped a brilliant individual season with the Johnny Warren Medal last month, having scored 15 goals and supplied 10 assists as the Reds reached the Isuzu UTE A-League Semi Final.
And this week, the Socceroos returned to where it all began – Gleeson College – to unveil the school’s wall of fame, in which he is the centrepiece. He was joined by Adelaide great Marcos Flores for the ceremony.
Goodwin was also included in FIFA 23’s Rest of World Team of the Season with a rating of 92.
Goodwin is recovering from surgery to repair a hernia problem that plagued him throughout the 2022-23 season but the Adelaide star is hopeful of being available for next month’s Australia Cup Round-of-32 tie against NPL2 VIC outfit Northcote City.
“Feeling really good. Had the sportsman hernia repair on my hips. Now it’s just about recovering from that but the recovery is a short one,” he told Network 10.
Could Arzani return to Melbourne?
Melbourne Victory are interested in Macarthur FC’s Daniel Arzani, according to News Corp.
Arzani has a year remaining on his deal in Campbelltown but Victory are reportedly interested in the fringe Socceroo amid speculation their captain Josh Brillante could be poised to move to Western Sydney Wanderers.
Victory are rebuilding their squad after finishing second-bottom last season with Manchester United and Portugal great Nani, Matt Acton (Brisbane Roar), Lleyton Brooks, Kike Lopez (Kadete), Tomi Juric, George Timotheou (Gunghalin United), Fernando Romero (end of loan) and Bruce Kamau (end of loan) all departing.
Tony Popovic’s side have handed out scholarship deals to Franco Lino, Joshua Inserra and Jordi Valadon.
A former A-Leagues sensation leaves Bayern Munich
Sarpreet Singh is a Bayern Munich player no longer but the ex-Wellington Phoenix youngster is staying in Germany.
Singh has been told to second division club Hansa Rostock on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
“I’m really looking forward to this new chapter in my career and to playing for the traditional club and in this fantastic stadium,” said Singh.
“So far I’ve only had the experience of playing against Hansa, so I can’t wait to play for Hansa.”
The 24-year-old made the move to Bundesliga juggernaut Bayern in 2019, having impressed scouts while playing for New Zealand at the 2019 FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
Bayern are believed to have spent around $1million (NZD) to bring Singh to Germany and he made eight senior appearances for the German giants – two of those in the Bundesliga – in 2019-20 before he was loaned out to FC Nurnberg and Jahn Regensburg.
“In Sarpreet Singh we have signed a technically very experienced player who feels at home in the centre of attack and who will give us new impetus with his game intelligence. He has already proven his quality in the second division and will give our game even more variety,” said Hansa Rostock sporting director Kristian Walter.
His move to Hansa Rostock means he will again come up against Socceroos pair Jackson Irvine and Connor Metcalfe, who play for St Pauli, having spent the past three seasons on loan in 2.Bundesliga.

Remember Tyler Boyd? The New Zealand-born winger who spent three years with Wellington Phoenix between 2012 and 2015?
Well, he is now playing for LA Galaxy in MLS and scored an incredible goal for the American giants in their 2-1 win over city rivals Los Angeles FC in the El Trafico Derby.
Played in front of 82,110 fans – a new MLS single-game attendance record – at the Rose Bowl in California, Boyd capped the occasion with a goal to remember.
Boyd is a 10-time USA international, having previously earned five caps for New Zealand.
