Sydney FC have bolstered their attacking stocks before the transfer deadline with the signing of Brazilian attacker Fabio Gomes.
The 26-year-old joins the club on loan from Brazilian outfit Atletico Mineiro, after spells with Portuguese outfit Pacos de Ferreira, MLS side New York Red Bulls and Japanese club Albirex Niigata.
He previously played alongside former Sky Blues star Bobo at Oeste, where he initially burst onto the scene in 2019 – scoring 15 goals in 32 games in the Brazilian second tier.

“I had no hesitation in saying ‘yes’ to the offer to play here,” Gomes said.
“I did my research, and I can see the players are at a very high technical level and I really like the structure of the team.
“I’m a tall player, very fast and heading is a strong point in my game.
“I want to help my team, score a lot of goals, win a lot of titles, and make history at this club.
“I’m very motivated to be here.”

Gomes’ arrival helps fill the void left by Adam Le Fondre, who joined Scottish outfit Hibernian after a successful five-year spell at the club. Gomes will wear the number nine jersey which was also vacated by the Englishman.
“I’m thrilled to have brought in a player of Fabio’s calibre and looking forward to seeing him out on the pitch,” coach Steve Corica said.
“He will give us an extra dimension in our attacking third and I’ve got no doubt he will cause a lot of problems for our opponents.
“He is exciting, he is aggressive and can score goals with both feet and his head.
“I am sure our members are going to love watching him play and he will make a name for himself in Australia.”
Gomes is Sydney’s second new arrival this off-season, joining talented attacker Nathan Amanatidis who arrived at the club from Adelaide United.
The Sky Blues also announced the permanent signing of Socceroos full-back Joel King – after he returned to the club on loan last season – and the promotions of academy stars Gus Hoefsloot, Zac De Jesus, Matt Scarcella and Mitch Glasson to scholarship deals.
Sydney return to action this weekend in the Australia Cup quarter finals against Western United on Sunday.
