Isuzu UTE A-League Championship winner and Joe Marston Medallist Aleksandar Prijovic has agree to mutually part ways with Western United.
Prijovic leaves Western in order to pursue opportunities elsewhere after making an enormous impact in his two seasons at the club, scoring 19 goals and tallying seven assists in 44 appearances in all competitions.
He departs in second spot on the club’s list of all-time leading scorers, behind Besart Berisha who has 26 goals to his name.
“We would like to thank Aleks for his time over his two seasons with us at Western United,” Western United General Manager of Football Mal Impiombato said.
“Aleks played an integral part in the club’s Championship success in 2021/22 and we wish him every success with his next steps.”

The striker joined the club in the 2021-22 off-season after a well-distinguished career in Europe and the Middle East, along with being part of Serbia’s 2018 FIFA World Cup squad.
Prijovic scored 13 goals in his first season at Western, including four in the finals en route to the club’s first ever Isuzu UTE A-League Championship, starring in their 2-0 Grand Final win over Melbourne City – where he was bestowed with the aforementioned medal.
The following campaign was interrupted with injury, making only 16 appearances and adding five goals to his name.
He didn’t feature in any of their three Australia Cup fixtures to begin the 2023-24 campaign, before the club was bundled out by Sydney FC in the quarter-finals.
Prijovic is the latest member of the 2022 Championship winning side to depart the club including Leo Lacroix, Jamie Young, Neil Kilkenny, Nikolai Topor-Stanley, Alessandro Diamanti, Dylan Pierias and Connor Pain all left earlier in the off-season.
John Aloisi’s side has embarked on a squad overhaul this off-season, bringing in the likes of Daniel Penha, Angus Thurgate, Thomas Heward-Belle and Riku Danzaki to help cover their departures.
Western begin their Isuzu UTE A-League season against reigning premiers City on October 21 at AAMI Park.
