Melbourne City have signed Chilean forward Mario Jose Rojas as an injury replacement player for star forward Hannah Wilkinson heading into the Liberty A-League season.
Former Sydney FC star Rojas will call City home until the end of December, with Wilkinson sidelined due to a quad injury.
A Chile international who also enjoyed stints with Adelaide United and Canberra United, Rojas arrives from Cypriot club Apollon Ladies, where she had scored six goals and assisted a further four in just six matches.
“While it’s disappointing to be missing Hannah for the start of the season, we’re excited to bring Maria into the club,” said City head coach Rado Vidosic.
“Maria will add experience and leadership to our attack, and she showed last season she’s as dangerous as ever in front of goal.”
City kick-off their A-League Women campaign away to Wellington Phoenix on Sunday.
