JAMIE Young says the allure of working under John Aloisi once again was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up, as Western United secured the experienced goalkeeper’s services on a two-year deal.
The 35-year-old called time on his seven-season stint at Brisbane Roar to join United, linking up with the club’s new head coach Aloisi for the second time after the Socceroos legend’s stint as head coach of Roar from May, 2016 to early 2019.
Upon joining his new club, Young said it was easy to identify Aloisi’s hunger to achieve success in Green and Black, which he hopes to contribute to alongside Ryan Scott in United’s goalkeeping union.
“The thing that stuck out for me is what John Aloisi brings to the club,” Young told the club website.
“He wants success, he wants to push. When you play for a manager who pushes you, you go through brick walls for them. That’s what I want.
“I want to make sure the work I put in, translates to success and I’m delighted to have the opportunity here with Western United.”

In seven seasons in Orange, Young twice won Brisbane’s Gary Wilkins Medal awarded to Player of the Year. He made 144 A-League appearances and featured in the Finals Series six times.
Aloisi says Young’s arrival will benefit the club both on and off the pitch.
“I got to know Jamie very well during our time together in Brisbane and I am so happy to bring him with us to Western United,” Aloisi said.
“He is a perfect fit for us on and off the pitch. His leadership and experience will be vital for us, and above all that, he has big qualities.
“There is a reason he was named the league’s best goalkeeper a few years ago. Having him and Ryan Scott together will be important for us at the back.”
