With a men’s record three straight wins to start the season, having enough people working towards a common goal is how Chris Greenacre says Wellington Phoenix are approaching the season.
It’s a simple methodology that Chris Greenacre has adopted with his players and staff this season, and it’s paying dividends for the New Zealand side, as they sit proudly atop the A-League Men ladder with three wins from as many matches, after toppling last seaaon’s premiers Newcastle Jets on Saturday afternoon at McDonald Jones Stadium:
“It was really important that we got the right people in the building…good pros…with enough people with a common goal, you’ll get your rewards.”
Asked about the form of Corbin Piper as contributing to the team’s success, Greenacre was more than forthcoming with praise for the converted no. 9, after three goals in three matches:
“We’ve simplified his game a bit…his forward runs make him a real handful…He really deserves his call-up to the national team.”
