Central Coast Mariners have bolstered their Ninja A-League squad with the signings of teenage forward Skye Halmarick and experienced defender Danika Matos.
The pair are the Mariners’ first new recruits ahead of the 2026/27 season, joining 10 players who have already re-signed with the club.
18-year-old Halmarick joins Central Coast after making her A-League debut with Sydney FC during the 2025/26 season.

The forward arrived at the Sky Blues from NPL Women’s NSW club NWS Spirit in 2025 after a standout campaign that saw her finish the season with 23 goals and the competition’s Golden Boot and Player of the Year awards.
Halmarick remains part of the Australian Young Matildas programme and enjoyed a prolific international window earlier this year, scoring four goals in one half during a 14-0 win over Tajikistan in AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup qualifying.
She finished that international window with six goals across two matches.
Halmarick also scored twice in Australia’s opening match at the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup tournament proper, combining with new Mariners teammate Peta Trimis in a 5-0 victory over Chinese Taipei.
Matos, meanwhile, arrives on the Central Coast after seven seasons with Western Sydney Wanderers.
The 26-year-old became the Wanderers’ all-time appearance leader in the Ninja A-League, making 111 appearances for the club.
Primarily deployed at right-back, Matos was also selected for the 2024 A-Leagues All Stars squad for their clash with Arsenal at Marvel Stadium.

Mariners Director of Women’s Football Matteo Maiorana said both recruits had quickly bought into the club’s vision.
“We’re incredibly excited to have Skye and Danika be two of the first players joining the club this season” said Central Coast Mariners’ Director of Women’s Football, Matteo Maiorana.
“Skye is a super talented striker who knows where the back of the net is, you give her a chance and she will score”.
“Danika is experienced but more importantly she is not only a good player, but a great person. Once Dean said Danika was available, we moved very quickly to secure someone who he was very keen to have in the squad.”
“Both girls have bought into what we’re trying to do for the Coast community here since our very first phone calls, and we hold confidence that they will represent the Club and the region on and off the field proudly.”
Halmarick and Matos will link up with their new teammates on Tuesday, September 15 when training begins ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
The Mariners open their season away to Brisbane Roar on Saturday, October 17.
