Brisbane Roar have added some creativity to their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Isuzu UTE A-League season, signing former South Korea international Nam Tae-hee on a one-year deal.
The 35-year-old attacking midfielder arrives in Brisbane boasting an illustrious career across France, Qatar, Japan and South Korea, where he most recently played for K League 1 side Jeju SK.
A 54-time international with South Korea, Nam has put pen-to-paper on an initial one-year deal with the Roar, while there is also a clause in the contract for an additional season in the Isuzu UTE A-League.

Nam began his professional career with French side Valenciennes, becoming the youngest Asian player to feature in Ligue 1 before embarking on a trophy-laden spell in Qatar.
Across two stints with Al-Duhail, the attacker made more than 270 appearances, scored 122 goals and won multiple Qatar Stars League titles. His outstanding form saw him crowned Qatar’s Player of the Year in 2017.
“I am very happy to be joining Brisbane Roar,” said Nam, after his signing was officially announced by the club.
“I understand that this is a club hungry to be successful once again, so I am excited to meet my new teammates, the wonderful fans and get straight to work.”

Nam later joined Al-Sadd, where he played under Barcelona great Xavi Hernandez and helped the club win the unbeaten 2020/21 Qatar Stars League title before then joining Japanese giants Yokohama F. Marinos, where he helped them reach the final of the 2023/24 AFC Champions League final under Aussie great Harry Kewell.
The attacking midfielder later returned to South Korea with Jeju SK, where he made more than 60 appearances over two seasons.
“Nam is a proven winner, and an experienced player who has performed in Europe and at the highest level in Asia for more than a decade,” said Brisbane Roar Sporting Director, James Gow.
“He sees the game quickly, he creates chances, and he knows what it takes to win titles. Just as importantly, he is a professional our young players will learn from every single day.”

Australian football fans may also remember Nam from the 2015 AFC Asian Cup final, where he started for South Korea against the Socceroos in Sydney.
He later returned to Queensland in 2018, featuring in South Korea’s 1-1 draw with Australia at Suncorp Stadium before scoring in a 4-0 win over Uzbekistan at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre three days later.
