Auckland FC win 4-1 on agg
MATCH REPORT:Â Awesome Auckland advance to Grand Final with Adelaide win
Airton Andrioli
Adelaide United had home advantage but ultimately succumbed to a heartbreaking 3-0 semi-final second leg loss to Auckland FC on Friday night.
Defeated yes, but Reds boss Airton Andrioli certainly wasn’t deflated when speaking in his post-match press conference as his side’s excellent season unfortunately came to a premature end.
Steve Corica
Having missed out on making the Grand Final in their debut Isuzu UTE A-League season Steve Corica’s Auckland FC completed the job this time around.
Goals from Jake Girdwood-Reich, Sam Cosgrove and Logan Rogerson fired the Black Knights to a stunning 3-0 win on enemy territory to set up a home Grand Final and Corica couldn’t been prouder of his side.
Newcastle Jets 1-1 Sydney FC
Sydney FC win 4-2 on penalties
MATCH REPORT:Â Sydney through to Isuzu UTE A-League Grand Final on penalties
Mark Milligan
The Jets fairytale season came to a heartbreaking end on Saturday evening in front of a packed out crowd at McDonald Jones Stadium as they lost 4-2 to Sydney FC on penalties.
Mark Milligan’s side gave it their all but ultimately fell just short when it comes to clinching an incredible hat-trick of trophies. That said, their boss believes there are so many positives to take out of what’s been a memorable season.
Patrick Kisnorbo
He may have only taken charge of the club at the back end of March but Patrick Kisnorbo has guided Sydney FC to the Isuzu UTE A-League Grand Final.
The Sky Blues boss is now unbeaten in his opening seven games in charge of the club and you wouldn’t bet against him making that eight when it comes to this weekend’s Grand Final in Auckland.
A delighted Kisnorbo addressed the media after the full time whistle sounded at McDonald Jones Stadium.
