Glory midfielder Bozinovski seals dramatic late transfer to Dutch top flight

Perth Glory midfielder Rhys Bozinovski has joined Dutch Eredivisie outfit Heracles Almelo for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half year deal after Heracles activated the player’s buyout clause in his contract late on transfer deadline day in the Netherlands.

Bozinovski joined Glory ahead of the current campaign after four seasons with Western United and made 14 A-League starts in purple.

“I’ve always said that Rhys is a future Socceroo and we would have loved to have kept him for longer,” said Glory Football Director Stan Lazaridis.

“But obviously this is a big opportunity for him to advance his career by playing in a high-quality European league.

“We fought hard to sign him initially and while the club will benefit from this move, we watch him leave with a heavy heart.

He added: “We’d like to thank Rhys for his contribution to the club during his time with us and wish him all the very best for the future.”

Bozinovski joins the side who are now coached by former Adelaide United Technical Director, Ernest Faber.

Sat 16th on the Eredivisie ladder, Heracles Almelo have added another Australian to their ranks to join Socceroos midfielder Ajdin Hrustic.

The move for Bozinovski comes off the back of intense speculation regarding a potential move from the Dutch side for Adelaide United defender Panagiotis Kikianis.
