Canberra United have moved into third on the ladder after defeating Melbourne Victory 3-1 at the Home of the Matildas.
The home side started brightly and broke the deadlock inside the opening four minutes; American striker Kennedy White continuing her fine form, scoring her sixth goal of the season via a deflected strike.

Despite going behind the away side weren’t deterred and duly bagged their equaliser in the 22nd minute care of a deflection of their own; Bethany Gordon’s volley from just inside the box cannoning off Nanako Sasaki before wrong-footing goalkeeper Courtney Newbon and nestling into the back of the net.
Both sides had chances to take the lead but it was the away side who bagged the game’s third goal in the 55th minute. Receiving the ball inside the box after some intricate passing, Sasha Grove took a touch to steady herself before bending a sublime strike into the top corner to make it 2-1.
Canberra then inched ever closer to a monumental win in the 77th minute as Victory captain Kayla Morrison endured a moment to forget, steering a Sofia Chrisopherson cross past her own goalkeeper to make it 3-1 to the visitors.
The win for Antoni Jagarinec’s side sees them win in Melbourne against Victory for the first time since 28th December, 2016 whilst the result is also Victory’s first loss at the venue in 600 days.
