Another season and another trophy for A-Leagues legend Kevin Muscat, who guided Shanghai Port to more Chinese Super League glory.
Muscat’s Port clinched a dramatic three-peat and their second CSL title with the Australian at the helm thanks to Saturday’s 1-0 win away to Dalian Yingbo.
It was a nail-biting final round in China, where Port entered the match two points clear of city rivals Shanghai Shenhua.
Port were not to be denied on the final day as a goal inside the opening five minutes via Gabrielzinho sealed silverware for the Chinese giants.
For Muscat – surrounded by Australian assistants Ross Aloisi and Vincenzo Ierardo as well as Aussie Head of High Performance Greg King – it only enhances his reputation having been tipped to take over at Rangers last month before a move to the Scottish powerhouse broke down.
The Isuzu UTE A-League icon has five league titles to his name as a manager across spells with Melbourne Victory, Yokohama F.Marinos and Port, while he has won the Australia Cup, Japanese Super Cup and Chinese FA Cup.
