Newcastle Jets have announced club-record Ninja A-League goalscorer Tara Andrews has returned to Newcastle as an assistant coach.
Andrews, who has made over 131 appearances for the club in the Ninja A-League, holds the record for the most goals for the Jets with 45.
The Jets legend says she’s excited to be back at the club.
“It feels fantastic to be back in Jets colours. It’s been a couple of seasons since I played.
“Newcastle is my home, to be able to give something back now to the team is something I’m excited about.
“As an assistant coach, I’m looking forward to helping develop the next generation of Jets talent. When Stephen (head coach Stephen Hoyle) reached out, I was really excited about the opportunity, it’s something that I have been working hard to achieve, and I’ll give my best towards.”
Newcastle Jets Head Coach Stephen Hoyle added: “Tara’s strong connection and story with the Jets make her a brilliant fit for our staff.
“She has (been) involved with coaching at NPL level since retiring as a player over the last couple of seasons and I’m delighted to bring her into the fold.
“She knows the journey our players are on because she’s lived it; that, mixed with her football intelligence and passion for developing others, will add real value to the team.”
