Perth Glory have announced the return of experienced defender Julia Sardo to the Ninja A-League club after a five-year absence.
The 30-year-old joins head coach Stephen Peters’ squad for the 2025-26 campaign; Sardo’s return to Perth comes after stints at Melbourne City and most recently Western United, where she spent three seasons and featured in the 2023 Grand Final.

A Ninja A-League debutant for Perth in 2019, Sardo made six appearances in purple before departing for Victoria; now, she returns to where it all began and is eager to help lift Glory to a Finals Series finish in her second stint at the club.
“Coming back to Perth honestly feels like a full-circle moment since it’s where I made my debut,” she said.
“I just want to bring my experience over the years and give back to the club that gave me my start.
“Hopefully we can go all the way in the (Ninja A-League) this season!”
Sardo is the fifth new arrival at Perth this pre-season, after Rola Badawiya, Bronte Trew, Emma Tovar and Teresa Morrissey.
Glory Football Director Stan Lazaridis said signing Sardo ends Perth’s search for defensive additions ahead of the Ninja A-League 2025-26 season.
“Julia is an experienced and versatile defender who has a great engine and knows what’s required in terms of securing Finals football,” Lazaridis said.
“She is also familiar with the club from her previous spell here and we’re really pleased to welcome her back.
“We’re happy with the defensive depth we now have in our squad and are looking forward to what we are confident will be a successful season.”
Glory take on Western Sydney Wanderers away on Friday, October 31. in Round 1 of the Ninja A-League season.
