Newcastle Jets have announced the signing of yet another academy product on a scholarship deal, with young defender Max Cooper putting pen to paper on a multi-year contract.
The 18-year-old centre-back joined the Jets aged eight in 2015; after a decade spent rising through the club’s youth ranks, Cooper debuted for the first team against Adelaide United in the Australia Cup Round of 32 in July.

Cooper’s since played every minute of the tournament to help the Jets book a place in the Australia Cup final on Saturday, October 4.
“I am very pleased to have signed my first professional contract with the Jets,” Cooper said.
“It’s something that I’ve been striving for since I joined the Club when I was eight years old. I am very excited to see what this season brings.”
Cooper is Newcastle’s fourth scholarship signing of the pre-season under new head coach Mark Milligan, joining Xavier Bertoncello, Lucas Sciclun, Christian Bracco in the first team.
