Adelaide United have signed 20-year-old winger Lara Gooch from Newcastle Jets on a two-year contract.
Gooch joins the club after making 43 Ninja A-League appearances for Newcastle since her debut aged 16.
The seven-time CommBank Young Matilda is a star in the making at international level. She made three appearances for Australia at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in 2024, and scored the goal that sealed Australia a third-place finish at the 2024 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup.

Now, Gooch arrives in Adelaide as a 20-year-old prospect with significant Ninja A-League experience under her belt, and has been tipped to add “another dimension” to the Reds attack by the club’s head of football Marius Zanin.
“Lara is one of the most promising young players in the country and we’re thrilled she’s chosen Adelaide United for the next stage of her career,” Zanin said.
“She already has significant experience at a young age, both in the league and internationally, and her speed and energy will add another dimension to our attack.
“Importantly, Lara has shown the mentality and drive we value at Adelaide United, and we believe she can make a real impact over the next two seasons.”
