The 175cm left-footed playmaker’s career began at Sporting Gijón where he accrued 54 appearances and scored six goals across Spain’s LaLiga and Segunda División. His debut for Gijón at just 18 years, two months and two days made Muñiz the club’s youngest-ever debutant at the time in 2010.

The new Reds technician also spent three years at Greek club Atromitos before a move to JDT in 2022 where he scored 25 goals and notched 32 assists in 58 games en route to collecting seven trophies with the Malaysian club.
Adelaide United technical director Ernest Faber said: “Juan is a fantastic signing for Adelaide United and will bring great creativity and leadership to our team.
“He is technically very strong, with the ability to both score and create goals through his finishing and assist attributes. His game intelligence will be a major asset for us, and we are excited to see the impact he will make in the A-League.”
The 33-year-old will arrive in Australia to link up with the Reds in the coming days ahead of the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025-26 season.
“I’m very happy to be joining Adelaide United and can’t wait to wear the shirt at Coopers Stadium,” Muñiz said.
“It will be special to play for this club and share that experience with the fans.
“Isaías has spoken very highly of the Reds in my conversations with him, and I’m excited to see it all for myself.”
