Canberra United have signed American striker Emma Hawkins ahead of the Ninja A-League 2025-26 season.
Hawkins arrives in the nation’s capital having previously played for FHL in the Icelandic Lengjudeild league and in Portugal for SF Damaniense following on from successful spells in the United States College system for Central Arkansas Bears and the Oklahoma Sooners.
She made 34 appearances for the Bears, scoring 24 goals in 2020 and 2021, before switching to the Sooners where she continued to find the net on a regular basis, netting fourteen times in 38 matches.

“I am delighted to be joining a club with such a great history and tradition of having American players wear the green jersey,” said Hawkins, who will team team up with A-Leagues and CommBank Matildas great Michelle Heyman in Canberra.
“I had really productive talks about the club and have been told that the support base is second to none. I can’t wait to get out at our home ground and play in front of the fans and show them what I can do.”
Hawkins is Canberra’s second new signing after Nanako Sasaki.
Heyman, Tegan Bertolissio, Emma Robers, Bethany Gordon, Darcy Malone, Sally James, Coco Majstorovic, Mary Stanic-Floody and Hayley Taylor-Young have also re-signed.

“Emma is a dynamic runner, an instinctive and sharp finisher, strikes the ball superbly and is good in the air,” Canberra head coach Antoni Jagarinec said.
“In short, Emma is an all-round forward who also possesses a rapid turn of pace and is composed when through in one-on-one situations. I am sure the United fans will love watching her play, as much as the squad will enjoy playing with her.
“I am looking forward to working with Emma as we build our squad for 2025-26.”
