Australia Cup QF ties confirmed as Isuzu UTE A-league clubs’ path to glory revealed

Australia Cup recap: Randall at the double as Auckland cruise past South Melbourne

The stage is set for a thrilling conclusion to the 2025 Hahn Australia Cup, with five Isuzu UTE A-League clubs joined by three NPL sides in the quarter-finals of the tournament.

NPLM Victoria club Heidelberg United dumped Western Sydney Wanderers out of the Australia Cup in the shock result of the Round of 16; it was the third “cupset” result of the tournament in 2025 to date.

Heidelberg are joined by fellow NPL sides Avondale FC and Brisbane City in the quarter-finals and with four of the five remaining Isuzu UTE A-League clubs set to face off in two of the final-eight ties, at least one NPL side – the winner of Avondale FC v Brisbane City – will advance to the semi-finals.

Giant slayers Heidelberg will face off with Wellington Phoenix at Olympic Village in the first of the four quarter-final fixtures on Tuesday, August 19, before the all-NPL clash between Avondale and Brisbane City on August 20.

Then, attention will turn to Sydney FC v Auckland FC on Saturday, August 23 in New South Wales (venue TBC), before Newcastle Jets host Macarthur FC at Maitland Showground on Sunday, August 24 to round out the quarter-final action.
