R7 TALKING POINTS: ‘I’ve put my neck on the line to give them a chance’

Called up to the past two Socceroos camps, Velupillay is a young Australian talent on the rise; unfortunately for the Victory winger, an ankle injury suffered in Australia’s 0-0 draw with Saudi Arabia last month has kept him sidelined since the mid-November international break.

Velupillay was named Boost Mobile Young Footballer of the Year October/November nominee via a panel appointed by the Australian Professional Leagues (APL).

The panel features an assortment of media representatives and technical football experts, who vote on a 3-2-1 basis at the conclusion of each nominated monthly period throughout the season.
