Central Coast Mariners striker Alou Kuol ended his 16-game goal drought in style on Sunday night, scoring a brace in his side’s 2-1 Isuzu UTE A-League win over Sydney FC at Industree Group Stadium.
Kuol was at the centre of all the big talking points in Gosford on Sunday; he was the player fouled by Sydney FC goalkeeper Harrison Devenish-Meares just before half-time – an indiscretion that earned the Sky Blues debutant a straight red card in the first Isuzu UTE A-League game of his career.

Kuol then put Central Coast ahead in the 58th minute but the 10 men of Sydney FC responded through Patryk Klimala to set up a grandstand finish at Industree Group Stadium.
In the pouring rain, it was Kuol who proved the hero for the Mariners, scoring his second of the night with a bullet header to give the hosts a 2-1 lead they held until full-time.
After three draws and a loss to begin the season, the two-time reigning Isuzu UTE A-League champions have now won back-to-back league games; the Mariners sit seventh on the table, level on nine points with Sydney FC after seven rounds.
